Prof. JIANG Jie, ISPRS Secretary General, invited to attend the inauguration ceremony of China’s first “Cluster of headquarters for international science and technology organizations”

On the afternoon of May 31, the inauguration ceremony of China’s first “Cluster of headquarters for international science and technology organizations” was held in East Lake International Center (EIC), Chaoyang District. Leaders including SHU Wei, Deputy Secretary of the leading Party members group, full-time Vice President, and Secretary of the Secretariat of China Association for Science and Technology (CAST), representatives of the heads of international science and technology organizations, representatives of scientists working in international science and technology organizations, and representatives of diplomatic envoys in China attended the event. LIU Yinchun, Deputy Secretary-General of Beijing’s Municipal Government, presided over the event. Prof. JIANG Jie, Secretary General of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and Executive Dean of the International Development Research Institute (School of International Education) of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA), was invited to attend the ceremony as a representative of scientists working in international science and technology organizations.

International science and technology organizations act as an important platform to promote the realization of global common values, also access to global innovation resources for countries. Beijing Association for Science and Technology selected EIC in Chaoyang District as the location of the cluster. Eight international science and technology organizations were selected as the first batch, and other international science and technology organizations and offices will be classified in batches to settle in later.

In June 2022, with the support of CAST, the Beijing Association for Science and Technology and the Chinese Society for Geodesy Photogrammetry and Cartography (CSGPC), Prof. JIANG Jie of BUCEA was successfully elected as Secretary General of ISPRS and Vice Chairman of the International Science Council-China of CAST. In the meantime, BUCEA’s project, “Supporting scientific and technological institutions in Beijing for international exchange and cooperation”, was approved by Beijing Center for International Science and Technology Exchange. Based on this project, BUCEA has set up an ISPRS Secretary General Working Team to assist with the duties of the ISPRS Secretary General, successfully held the Gi4DM 2022 & Urban Geoinformatics 2022 of ISPRS themed “Geo-Informatics Supported Disaster Risk Reduction and Smarter Urban Management”, and recommended three young BUCEA teachers to serve as the leader and co-leader of the ISPRS working group.

The ISPRS Secretary-General Working Team will continue to closely contact the Beijing Association for Science and Technology, actively carry out academic exchange activities with international science and technology organizations, help establish and improve the liaison mechanism of international science and technology organizations, and promote high-level international academic exchange activities to be held in Beijing.
