Congratulations! BUCEA wins 2023 Global Awards for World Heritage Education Innovative Cases

On November 2, the Extended 45th session of the World Heritage Committee announced the winners of the 2023 Global Awards for World Heritage Education Innovative Cases (AWHEIC) at a side event on the theme of World Heritage Education. HE Ding, associate professor from the BUCEA School of Architecture and Urban Planning and his team “BUCEA & the Great Wall Post” won the Star of Future Award of AWHEIC for the first time. The award is hosted by the World Heritage Institute of Training and Research-Asia and Pacific (WHITRAP) of UNESCO.

The Global Awards for World Heritage Education Innovative Cases was initially established as an international platform for interaction and exchange focusing on the innovation of world heritage education models, which aims to select heritage education cases with foresight and exemplary significance around the world, in order to lead and promote the future development of world heritage education. Major awards of AWHEIC include the Star of Outstanding, the Star of Discovery and the Star of Future.

Associate Professor HE Ding and UNESCO-WHITRAP jointly released a heritage cooperation plan to explore the feasibility of applying the sustainable education model of the Great Wall in the Ming and Qing Dynasty city walls, sea defenses, and Southwest Miao Frontiers, so as to explore and promote the value of China’s traditional military defense heritage.
