BUCEA holds 2023 Graduation Ceremony and Degree Conferral Ceremony

On the morning of June 18th, BUCEA (Beijing University of Engineering and Architecture)’s 2023 graduation ceremony and degree conferral ceremony were held grandly at the Gymnasium of the Daxing Campus. LI Junfeng, the secretary of the CPC Committee of BUCEA, ZHANG Dayu, the deputy secretary of the CPC Committee and president of BUCEA, along with other university leaders, alumni representatives, LI Yalan, Chairman of the International Gas Union, faculty representatives, over 3,000 graduate students from the Class of 2023, and more than 400 graduates from the Class of 2022 attended the ceremony.

The ceremony’s warm-up segment features a medley of songs, which were performed by BUCEA students in academic gowns.

The BUCEA original video, titled “New Journey, Starting Again”, uses footage and visuals to reminisce about the precious moments of studying on campus.

The ceremony includes welcoming school flags, reciting school mottos, welcoming the university flag, and reciting the university motto.

LI Junfeng, the secretary of the CPC Committee of BUCEA, announces the list of Outstanding Graduate Design (Thesis) and the list of outstanding graduates.

ZHANG Dayu, the deputy secretary of the CPC Committee of BUCEA and president, delivered the “Last Lesson” to the graduating students.

ZHANG Dayu expressed three hopes for the graduating students:

Firstly, I hope you will maintain lofty aspirations and foster the ideal belief of “Reflect on the times and be grateful for our country, wield your swords, and embark on new journeys.”

Secondly, I hope you will be devoted to learning, upholding the spirit of “In our youthful vigor, dressed in new robes and spirited horses, we shall not let time slip away in vain.”

Thirdly, I hope you will remain grounded and always maintain the practical working style of “Though knowledge gained from books may seem shallow, true understanding comes from personal experience and practice.”

In the summer of 2023, the university granted graduation to 2,072 undergraduate students, 1 international undergraduate student, and 91 adult undergraduate students. Additionally, 9 doctoral students, 919 master’s students, and 1 international master’s student were granted graduation.

On that day, the university leaders, as well as the heads of the respective schools, turned the tassels on the graduates’ trencher caps, awarded them their degrees, and shook hands while taking commemorative photographs.
