AN Qingjie and MEN Yang, members of the Xiong’an New Area CPC Work Committee and Deputy Directors of the Xiong’an New Area Management Committee, received BUCEA’s survey team.

At the symposium, MEN Yang gave a detailed introduction to the overall construction of the New Area and the achievements gained so far. He stated the construction of the Xiong’an New Area was a major decision made by the CPC Central Committee with Comrade XI Jinping at its core to further enhance the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei region. In the early stage, BUCEA made significant contributions to the formulation of surveying and mapping standards for demolition in the New Area, the study on strategies enhancing the city’s resilience, and landscape renewal and design. MEN pointed out the Xiong’an New Area had entered a critical stage of undertaking the non-capital functions of Beijing while also promoting large-scale construction. He expected universities to conduct more forward-looking studies and put into use more scientific research achievements in the New Area. Relevant departments and graduates at the university are also welcome to participate in the construction of the New Area and contribute their strengths.

LI Junfeng expressed BUCEA’s desire to further expand cooperation with the Xiong’an New Area, enhance joint talent training, and provide more outstanding graduates for the development of the New Area by establishing internship and practical training bases, etc. BUCEA would like to make the best use of its advantageous disciplines and majors to provide stronger intellectual and technical support for the planning and construction of the New Area, supporting the Area to build a future-oriented city with a promising future.

ZHANG Dayu said BUCEA would make an active response to the needs of the New Area, make full use of its advantages in talents, intelligence, technology, etc., and conduct more forward-looking and targeted studies focusing on architectural heritage protection, urban design, green cities and green development, and resilient cities, so as to enhance the role of Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Future Urban Design and other institutions. In addition, concerted efforts would be made with the New Area to explore the establishment of local sci-tech innovation platforms, offer accompanying services, and provide more technical support for the construction of the New Area, thus making BUCEA’s contributions to the development of the Area.

At the symposium, Xiong’an New Area Bureau of Natural Resources and Planning, Xiong’an New Area Bureau of Construction and Transportation, and the Public Services Company of China Xiong’an Group introduced the planning and construction of the Xiong’an New Area.
