On October 30, the final of the 3rd Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition for College Students in Beijing on Energy Saving, Water Saving, Low Carbon, and Emission Reduction was held at the Daxing Campus of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA). LIU Xiao, Director of Higher Education Division of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, LI Aiqun, Standing Member of CPC Committee and Vice President of BUCEA, and heads of the Academic Affairs Office and the School of Environment and Energy Engineering attended the opening ceremony. More than 30 teachers from 22 universities including Beihang University, Beijing Institute of Technology, Beijing Forestry University and China University of Petroleum-Beijing attended the ceremony as jury experts. The ceremony was presided over by WEI Wei, Secretary of the Youth League Committee of BUCEA.

LI Haiyan, Dean of BUCEA School of Environment and Energy Engineering, introduced the theme, entries, and the organization and preparation of the competition in detail.

Professor YAO Hong from Beijing Jiaotong University, the representative of jury experts, and the project leader of Beijing Outstanding Young Scientists Program, made a discipline commitment on behalf of all jury experts. CHENG Zikun from China University of Mining and Technology-Beijing made a speech on behalf of the contestants.

Since its launching, the competition has been actively participated by universities in Beijing. Nearly 300 outstanding works from over 1,600 students in 22 colleges and universities were received. After the qualification review, 242 works entered online evaluation, through which 100 works were selected for the final.

To strictly implement the requirements of epidemic prevention and control, the organizing committee adjusted the event arrangements in a timely and precise manner, adopting the "online + offline" evaluation method.

It is reported that the Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition for College Students in Beijing on Energy Saving, Water Saving, Low Carbon, and Emission Reduction is held once a year.
