On August 18, Beijing Municipal National Cultural Centralized Construction and Promotion Leading Group held a meeting at which the Group deliberated and approved the  Construction and Protection Plan of the Great Wall National Cultural Park (Beijing Section)  compiled by the Beijing Municipal Administration of Cultural Heritage. CAI Qi, Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee and Head of the Beijing Municipal National Cultural Center Construction and Promotion Leading Group presided over the meeting. CHEN Jining, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Beijing Municipal Committee, Mayor, and First Deputy Head of the Leading Group, attended the meeting.

The team of Prof. TANG Yuyang from the Beijing Research Institute for Great Wall Culture of BUCEA’s Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Future Urban Design is responsible for compiling the specific contents of the  Construction and Protection Plan of the Great Wall National Cultural Park (Beijing Section).

The Great Wall National Cultural Park is a major project promoted at the national level. In December 2019, the General Office of the CPC Central Committee and the General Office of the State Council issued the  Plan on the Construction of National Cultural Parks for the Great Wall, the Beijing-Hangzhou Grand Canal and the Long March , urging local authorities and relevant departments to attentively implement the Plan based on local conditions. The  Plan on the Construction clarified  requirements of the construction and protection plan at the national level and for the responsible provinces along the Great Wall.
