On the morning of May 14, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) signed a framework agreement of strategic cooperation with Beijing Drainage Group Co., Ltd. to expand cooperation in five aspects, including scientific and technological innovation and research results transformation, joint innovation centers and laboratories, provision of scientific advice and decision-making, talent cultivation and exchanges, and academic resources sharing. The signing of the agreement has opened a new chapter for the win-win cooperation between the two parties and built a new platform for the high-quality development of the capital and the technological advancement in the urban drainage industry.

Attendants from BUCEA included JIANG Zeting and LI Junqi, the University leaders, BAI Mang, Member of the Standing Committee of the University’s CPC Committee, as well as department heads and professors from Science and Technology Development Institute, the Office of Party and Administrative Affairs (the Office of Alumni Affairs), the School of Environment and Energy Engineering, the School of Electrical and Information Engineering and asset company, etc. WANG Kaijun, Professor of Tsinghua University and the alumni representative, GAO Ming, General Manager of Zhongke Water Management (Beijing) Technology Co., Ltd., and Gao Wei, Deputy Secretary-general of China Urban Water Association also attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by JIANG Zeting, Secretary of the University’s CPC Committee.

ZHANG Jianxin expressed his gratitude to BUCEA for the long-term support and assistance to the company and as a BUCEA graduate, he expressed sincere appreciation to his alma mater for the cultivation. He mentioned that in the future, the two parties need to deepen research on key topics, increase cooperation in urban pollution control and carbon emission reduction in sewage treatment industry; further strengthen the combination of industry, education, research and application; deepen cooperation mechanisms through resource sharing and complementary advantages, and strengthen exchanges in policies, talents, technology, industry research; deepen and actively explore new methods of talent cultivation and jointly explore new channels of combining industry, education and research.

He hoped that more scientific and technological outcomes could be produced as soon as possible, the scope of cooperation could be broadened, and the ties of the two parties could be strengthened. He also said that, “Our in-depth cooperation will strengthen the complementary advantages and form a strong combination, promote win-win cooperation, and better serve building Beijing into a world-class harmonious and livable city.”

JIANG Zeting expressed his gratitude to the Company as well as the experts and scholars for their visit. He pointed out that the University needed to steadily advance the implementation of the agreement, find out the comparative advantages of both parties to form a strong combination, and accelerate the fruitful results of the cooperation through model and mechanism innovation. He added that, at present, the University is seeking transformation in terms of strengthening high-level faculty and digital platform; the cooperation framework agreement should be aligned with the layout of the University’s experimental space and equipment, the construction of urban science and technology parks, and the R&D of key technologies for application scenarios.

He also mentioned that, as a strategic cooperation partner, the University will do the utmost to fulfill its responsibilities and obligations and provide talent, intellectual and scientific and technological support for the capital’s sustainable drainage system construction and water environment improvement so as to make greater contributions.

LI Junqi, Vice President of the University, made a brief introduction of the University and introduced the five aspects of university-enterprise strategic cooperation, namely, scientific and technological innovation and research results transformation, joint innovation centers and laboratories, provision of scientific advice and decision-making, talent cultivation and exchanges, and academic resources sharing, and elaborated on the ten key directions of cooperation that are expected to be strengthened in the future.

After the signing ceremony, the seminar on  Experts and Alumni Supporting Discipline Development  was held in which WANG Kaijun and GAO Wei made presentations and participants exchanged ideas on topics such as digital water management.
