​Residence Permit and Visa

Chapter 1 Residence Permit

Article 1 Those who will study at our university for more than one year (including one year) shall apply for X1 visa before coming to China; those who will study for less than one semester (including one semester) shall apply for X2 visa.

Article 2 International students with X1 visa shall apply for residence permit for foreigners within 30 days from the date of entry. All international students who are in off-campus accommodation shall apply for temporary residence registration certificate on time.

The following documents are required in applying for a residence permit:

1. The student's valid passport (with an ordinary passport) and visa;

2. Alien Visa and Residence Permit Application Form affixed with the official seal of the university Student Affairs Department and affixed with one 2-inch recent half-length bareheaded photo (the background must be light blue or white);

3. The official letter from the involved university indicating the duration of study and the original "Letter of Admission" as well as the" Visa Application Form for Foreign Students Studying in China" (JW201 Form or JW202 Form). If the original copy cannot be provided, a photocopy of the Application Form and the original "Letter of Admission" shall be provided;

4. The original "Health Certificate" issued by Beijing International Travel Healthcare Center (aged over 18 years old and the first application for residence permit);

5. Accommodation registration certificate (students for off-campus accommodation are also required to provide a copy of the accommodation registration certificate);

6. International students with L and F visas shall provide the "Letter of Admission", JW201 Form or JW202 Form and the official letter indicating the duration of study.

Article 3 Beijing Shanglian International Business Service Co., Ltd will set up a visa agency in the one-stop service hall of the university complex building to go through formalities for applying for visa and residence permit for international students. Please consult the school administrative teachers for details.

Article 4 International students can also go to the Entry and Exit Administration Division of Beijing Public Security Bureau to apply for the residence permit by holding the above documents.

Article 5 The validity period of the residence permit (not exceeding the validity period of the passport) shall not exceed one year. For the scholarship students, the validity period of the residence permit shall be determined according to the duration of the scholarship; and the validity period for the self-supporting students shall be subject to the tuition fee payment time limit. International students must leave China before the residence permit expires. Those for continuing study shall apply for an extension before the residence permit expires.

Article 6 If the content of residence permit is changed, the bearer shall go through the change formalities at the Entry and Exit Administration Division of Beijing Public Security Bureau within 10 days. Otherwise, the public security organ will impose penalties in accordance with the relevant provisions of the Chinese law.

Article 7 If the residence permit is moved to Beijing from other places, the bearer shall go to the Entry and Exit Administration Division of Beijing Public Security Bureau for migration application within 10 days.

Chapter 2 Visa

Article 8 International students who leave China within the validity period of the residence permit (including to Hong Kong and Macao) do not need to apply for a return visa, but must register at the Student Affairs Office of the school in advance and re-register for accommodation within 24 hours after entry.

Article 9 International students who leave China with X2 visa (including to Hong Kong and Macao) shall go to the Student Affairs Office of the school to go through the relevant formalities for applying for visa.

Article 10 When an international student transfers to other cities, he/she shall go to the Student Affairs Office of the school to ask for the administrative teacher to issue a transfer certificate. Upon arrival at the place of immigration, the student shall go to the Public Security Bureau of the immigration place to apply for a residence permit within 7 days (and within the validity period of the residence permit).

Article 11 Generally, it will take 15 to 18 working days for carrying out residence permit application, change and re-entry visa as well as migration procedures at the Entry and Exit Administration Division of Beijing Public Security Bureau. Article 12 All kinds of visas and certificates shall not be altered or damaged, otherwise, violators will be punished. The residence permit for foreigners shall be kept properly. If there is any loss, the student involved shall report it to the teacher of the Student Affairs Office of the school. The international student involved shall go to the Entry and Exit Administration Division of Beijing Public Security Bureau to report the loss and perform reissue procedures by holding the relevant materials.

Article 13 In case of specific problems, the student can directly consult and get help from the teacher in charge of the Student Affairs Office of the school.
