International Summer School Profile

The establishment of International Summer School of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (International Summer School) is an important measure for our school to implement the open-running strategy and promote international exchanges and cooperation. It aims to give full play to the characteristics and advantages of our school’s architecture & civil engineering discipline, providing students from different cultural backgrounds with a platform to learn new knowledge and exchange new ideas together. We hope that students from all countries can further enhance their understanding of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Beijing and China through personal participation, and thus enhance the international influence of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture and promote cultural exchanges and cooperation between China and foreign countries.

From 2016 to 2020, we have successfully held four International Summer schools. A total of more than 700 Chinese and foreign teachers and students from more than 20 domestic and foreign universities gathered together to study. Actively participation of the members of the “Belt and Road” International Alliance of Architecture Universities initiated by our school has attracted many college students from countries along the “Belt and Road” to sign up.

In each International Summer School, we invite foreign teachers from overseas first-class universities, internationally famous architects, academicians of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, high-level talents and other domestic teachers to give lessons. In terms of curriculum setting, we focus on the professional characteristics of architectural colleges and universities, and take count of capital culture and language exchanges, covering architecture, civil engineering, culture, communication and other fields. In addition to the regular courses, a variety of cultural practice activities are also arranged, so that students can understand and experience Chinese traditional and modern architecture.

In the future, the International Summer school will continue to be guided by the “14th Five-Year” plan, centering on the strategic development layout of the capital such as the “Belt and Road” strategy and the functional positioning of the “Beijing International Exchange Center”, aiming at enhancing the school’s international influence and improving the international communication ability of teachers and students, giving full play to the superior resources of the industry of our school and the advantages of building talent training, striving to achieve a high-level, open, and innovative university that is domestically first-class, internationally renowned with distinctive architectural characteristics.
