I. School of Architecture and Urban Planning


Major: Architecture (Experiment)

Length of Schooling: 4-7 years

Educational Objectives and Features: Under the educational philosophy to“integrate cultural consciousness into the whole process of cultivating architectural talents”, we are dedicated to make students excellent interdisciplinary talents with “appreciation for Chinese outstanding culture and proficiency in architectural technology”. For this end, this specialty aims at improving students’”consciousness of cultural heritage”and cultivating “initiative and creative spirit of technology” by designing a series of humanities courses, professional theoretical and technology courses. Professional educational course system is set up which is established which is “fundamental-based and practice-oriented so as to develop ability and quality in a wide range of courses”. With architectural design and theory as the backbone, other subject contents are also included such as Architectural History and Theory, Urban Design, Urban and Rural Planning, Landscape Planning and Design, Architectural Technology and Science, Art and Literature. This specialty make fully use of its geographical advantage in capital city and platform benefit from off-campus training base, yet keep national condition in mind, have as its purpose making excellent architecture students who are competent for industry needs and urban and rural construction”. Graduates, these compound talents, will mainly work for urban and rural construction system, engaging in such works as design, research, developing and management in field of public building design, residential building design, urban design, and preservation of historic building.

Length of Schooling: 3-6 years

Major: Environmental Design

Length of Schooling: 3-6 years

Educational Objectives and Features: In the aim of cultivating environmental designers with knowledge of traditional architecture and environment construction, the theoretical knowledge and professional skills of related disciplines, especially focus on interior design and to be creative. At the same time cultivate high-quality applied and innovative environmental art talents who can be engaged in interior and exterior environmental integration design in environmental art design institutions, as well as have the ability of project planning and management, and have certain innovative research ability. In the interdisciplinary environment of architecture and art design, it emphasizes the professional training of “thick foundation, wide caliber, strong ability, high quality and emphasis on practice”. Professional characteristics focus on producing talents who can inherit the excellent traditional culture, as well as have modern environmental innovation and design capabilities. The school aims to serve the urban and rural construction based on the capital, the whole country and the construction industry. Graduates are mainly specialized personnel engaged in the design, research, development and management of interior and exterior environmental integration design, arts and display design, furniture and furnishings design.

II. School of Civil Engineering and Transportation


Major: Intelligent Construction Engineering

Length of Schooling: 3-6 years

Educational Objectives and Features: The program is to inter-disciplinary engineering talents, fully developed in morality, intelligence and physique, and highly skilled in basic theory, knowledge and profession of engineering mechanics, civil engineering structural design, project management and laws, regulations, economics, material science, and survey. The students are required to have the systematic training so that they are competent in collaborative design, intelligent construction and intelligent management of civil engineering projects. Besides, the graduates have a good ability of organizing, innovation, learning, and international vision as well. It is aimed to foster frontline applied senior technical and management personnel with good creditability, high quality, broad basis and strong ability for the capital construction. The intelligent construction engineering applied scientific theory is the basis. The applied technology and ability of collaborative design, intelligent construction and intelligent management of civil engineering are focused on. By the strict and systematic training of practical designs, experiments, practices, graduation project, students obtain the exercise ofbasic quality and skills of intelligent construction engineers and own the solid foundation of each professional field and career of intelligent construction engineering. Students are cultivated by professional mentors and join the researchteams of the professional mentors to develop their scientific innovation ability. The students are taught in some lectures by invited enterprise engineers and intern in enterprises to train their practical ability. They have an opportunity to study as exchange students in some well-known foreign universities through the international exchange program for excellent undergraduates supported by China Scholarship Council and our university. This elite experimental class program also follows the excellent engineer cultivation plan by the Ministry of Education. Excellent students are preferentially exempted from studying for Master-Doctor degree.

Length of Schooling: 4 years

Educational Objectives and Features: The necessary basic theory and technology training required in the professional work designed to foster interdisciplinary talents with the abilities to be engaged in planning and design, R&D and manufacturing, installation, operation and system security technology or management work, as well as the knowledge in heating, ventilation, air conditioning, purification, cold and heat sources, heat supply, gas needed in design, construction, equipment manufacturing, operations companies and other enterprises. Major: Experimental Class for Environmental Innovative Talents

Length of Schooling: 4 years

Educational Objectives and Features: Experimental class for environmental innovative talents: It mainly focuses on prominent environmental problems, such as global climate change, and aggravation of air pollution, deterioration of water ecological environment, sharp increase of solid waste pollution risk, and lag of environmental planning and management system in China's rapid urbanization process, and aims at the cultivation of applied innovative talents urgently needed by society in the fields of climate change tackling, sponge city construction and environmental ecological engineering according to the new policies of “ecological civilization construction“, “green development“and “implementation of the strictest system for ecological and environmental protection“ proposed in the 19th CPC National Congress.

Research Directions:

Climate change tackling: cultivate compound senior technical and managerial talents who have global climate change awareness, understand how to tackle climate change, and master resource recycling and greenhouse gas emission reduction technology through the systematic study of cutting-edge environmental knowledge in global climate change impact, greenhouse gas emission reduction and haze control technology, environmental assessment and environmental management, and students will be awarded a bachelor's degree in environmental science upon graduation.

Sponge city construction: cultivate innovative senior technical talents who meet the needs of future urban development and have the idea of sustainable development, comprehensive analysis and practical ability to meet the urgent needs of sponge city construction through the systematic study in interdisciplinary engineering fields such as environment and planning, architecture, municipal, hydrology, hydraulic power and ecology, and students will be awarded a bachelor's degree in environmental engineering upon graduation.

Environmental and ecological engineering: cultivate future-oriented practical and innovative technical talents with the idea of harmonious coexistence between human and nature and the ability to conduct contamination remediation through the study of environmental and ecological engineering knowledge in regional ecological planning, ecological remediation scheme design and pollution control engineering design, and students will be awarded a bachelor's degree in environmental and ecological engineering upon graduation.


Major: Energy and Power Engineering

Length of Schooling: 4 years

Educational Objectives and Features: The main educational objective of our program is to cultivate students to meet the needs of new urbanization construction in China. Students are required to have a comprehensive development of moral, intellectual, physical, and also have a solid foundation of natural science, humanities, computer ability and foreign language application ability. Students arerequired to master the basic theory of energy and power engineering knowledge, basic training to be a qualified energy engineers with professional spirit of innovation, continuous learning ability and social adaptation ability. Enable students will have the ability in energy and power engineering project design, operation, management and research & development.Characteristics of our program are that our education endeavor is based on Beijing, with the whole China in mind, to improve the traditional energy efficiency in urban and rural areas, and also to promote the application and development of green energy. The emphasis of teaching is on heat and cold sources, projects design, equipment operation and management; through practice teaching, we focus on cultivating students' engineering practice ability and innovation ability
