On October 1, the Architectural Society of China (ASC) announced the winners of the Liang Sicheng Architecture Prize for 2020 (10th) and 2022 (11th). HU Yue, BUCEA Professor and National Master of Engineering Survey and Design, was awarded the 2022 (11th) Liang Sicheng Architecture Prize, the first time for BUCEA to receive such distinction.
Sponsored by ASC and supported by the International Union of Architects (UIA), the Liang Sicheng Architecture Prize is a professional award open to the world architects and setting the direction for international architecture. It is the highest honor awarded to architects and architectural scholars in the industry. Affected by the COVID-19 pandemic, the selection of the 2020 (10th) and 2022 (11th) Liang Sicheng Architecture Prize was combined and successfully concluded in Shanghai on September 23, 2022, with a total of 15 leading experts and scholars in the field of architecture shortlisted. After several rounds of selection, Japanese architect ARATA Isozaki and Chinese architect LI Xinggang were awarded the 2020 (10th) Liang Sicheng Architecture Prize, and Chinese architects ZHANG Li and HU Yue were awarded the 2022 (11th).

Over the past 30 years, HU Yue has designed a large number of architectural works, and won 2 gold awards and 2 silver awards each for Chinese Design Awards, 2 Zhan Tianyou Awards for civil engineering as well as more than 20 excellent engineering awards from ASC or at provincial and ministerial levels. HU’s works were shown in architectural exhibitions in Belgium, Germany, Britain, Spain, Poland, Brazil, Italy and China. He was invited to give academic reports in Malaysia, Spain, Britain and Poland, and participated in a number of important academic activities nationwide. In addition to engineering practice, HU Yue also pays great attention to theoretical research and published three academic monographs and a great number of articles in professional journals.
