On March 19, BUCEA held a student roundtable on overseas exchanges. CHEN Zhaohui, Vice President of BUCEA, attended the event together with student representatives who had participated in overseas exchange programs.

During the event, student representatives shared their experiences in exchange programs in Germany, Hong Kong (China), Switzerland, the Netherlands, Tunisia, the United States, Malaysia, the United Kingdom, Singapore, New Zealand, and Italy. Their remarks focused on four key aspects: academic development, cultural experience, challenges encountered, and suggestions for improving BUCEA’s overseas exchange initiatives. Students noted that through a wide range of activities, including English-medium instruction, case studies, company visits, Model United Nations simulations, and hands-on laboratory work, they not only deepened their disciplinary knowledge in a systematic way, but also significantly enhanced their English proficiency, cross-cultural communication and collaboration skills, and problem-solving abilities.

CHEN Zhaohui highlighted that BUCEA adopts diverse approaches to accurately identify student needs, build multi-dimensional platforms for overseas exchange, and improve peer support mechanisms among exchange students, thereby fostering a sustainable and positive cycle of “exchange–sharing–continuity–enhancement.” She also emphasized the importance of strengthening communication and feedback mechanisms during students’ time abroad to effectively address practical challenges. She encouraged students to translate their overseas experiences into momentum for personal growth, continuously enhance their overall competencies, and serve as ambassadors for cultural exchange between China and the rest of the world.
The roundtable provided an effective platform for communication between the University and the students, offering a comprehensive review of the outcomes of overseas exchange programs while enabling a clear understanding of students’ needs and feedback.
