BUCEA made major breakthroughs in 2021 National Natural Science Foundation of China (NSFC) Projects

On August 18, the National Natural Science Foundation of China released the review results of the projects applying for the 2021 National Natural Science Foundation (hereinafter referred to as the “Foundation”). 40 BUCEA’s projects were approved to receive the founding, including 1 key project, 16 general projects, and 23 youth projects with total funding of 17.79 million RMB. Compared with the previous year, the number of approved projects doubles, hitting a record high again.

In 2021, BUCEA has applied for 222 funding projects during the extensive operation period with an approval rate of approx. 18%, up by 5 percentage points year on year and 2 percentage points compared with the national average rate.

This year, BUCEA has made breakthroughs in three aspects. First, the number of approved projects and the amount of funding hit a record high. Compared with last year, BUCEA manages to double the number of approved projects, up by 22. More specifically, BUCEA receives total funding of 17.79 million yuan, up by 74.75%. Second, BUCEA has received the funding for key projects for three years in succession. Third, the number of youth projects is growing steadily. In 2021, 23 youth projects have been approved, up by 130% year on year.
