BUCEA Wins the Second Prize for the 2020 Outstanding Research Achievement Award in Institutes of Higher Education

Led by Professor DU Mingyi from BUCEA’s School of Geomatics and Urban Spatial Informatics, with BUCEA as the organization of the first authorship, the project,  Key Technologies for the Smart Experience and Refined Management of Megacities and Their Applications , has won the second prize for the 2020 Outstanding Research Achievement Award in Institutes of Higher Education by the Ministry of Education. This project is also the one and only winner headed by a municipal institute of higher education this year.

This project has four highlights on addressing the major needs of a megacity for “health inspections” and refined management. First, it is the first to propose a fundamental and targeted system with indicators for a megacity’s health and construct a health assessment model internationally. Second, by building a model that integrates city health data collected from remote geomatics, Internet of Things, behavioral sensory and other means, this project tackles the difficulties on accuracy, integration and time-effectiveness when collecting data that reflect a city’s health. Third, it also developed technology and equipment based on the coordination of multi-sensors in mobile single RF base stations to combine “sensing, identifying, positioning, examining, and legal enforcement support” in one. In so doing, this project can solve the delays in spotting city management issues and the difficulties in accurate positioning. Finally, it has formed a set of smart city health examination and assessment plans that are based on multimodal spaciotemporal data, and has achieved significant social and economic benefits.
