The Higher General Education Accreditation for International Students in China is an important indicator that comprehensively evaluates the effectiveness of international student education at higher institutions. Since applying for accreditation, BUCEA has attached great importance to the process. With close collaboration among all functional departments and schools, BUCEA completed data submission, self-assessment and improvement, as well as the preparation of the accreditation report with high quality, and underwent the on-site review in June 2025.
The expert panel gave high recognition to BUCEA’s international student education. They noted that, as a university jointly sponsored by the Beijing Municipal Government and the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, and as a high-level, distinctive institution, BUCEA has established a comprehensive talent training system covering undergraduate, master’s, doctoral, and postdoctoral programs, with civil engineering and architecture as its leading disciplines, laying a solid foundation for international student education.

In the accreditation report, experts unanimously highlighted that BUCEA has built an international talent cultivation system centered on architecture-related disciplines and established a “three-pillar model” consisting of English-taught programs, summer schools, and national-conditions courses. In terms of platform building and global engagement, BUCEA initiated the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium (BRAUIC), creating a high-level platform for international educational cooperation, and has continuously hosted international forums, discipline competitions, and summer exchange programs, effectively expanding its global influence. BUCEA has also been selected as a Belt and Road Initiative National Talent Base in Beijing, and has jointly established overseas practice bases for talent development, including the Kazakhstan and Uzbekistan branches of Luban Global School, together with overseas universities and Chinese enterprises. Through university-enterprise collaboration and order-based training models, BUCEA has trained over 200 professionals in architecture and civil engineering for Belt and Road participating countries. In terms of research capacity, BUCEA provides international students with opportunities to engage in cutting-edge research and practical projects through collaborative international research platforms, significantly enhancing their innovation capabilities and level of internationalization.

Successfully passing this accreditation fully demonstrates BUCEA’s outstanding performance in educating international students in China and represents high recognition of BUCEA’s work and achievements in international education.
