The Rural Revitalization Sub-society of Beijing Urban Planning Society officially established, launching its first international friendship village partnership

Recently, the inaugural meeting of the Rural Revitalization Sub-society of the Beijing Urban Planning Society was held at BUCEA. The event brought together renowned industry experts, scholars, representatives from government authorities, enterprises, local towns and villages, as well as international friendship villages. Together, they witnessed the official establishment of the Sub-society and advanced a series of concrete outcomes, including the unveiling of the Sub-society, the inclusion of the first cohort of 118 industry experts into the expert pool, the signing of the first international friendship village pairing agreement, and the designation of Beigou Village as a Research and Study Base.

CHEN Zhaohui, BUCEA Vice President and Chief Expert of the Sub-society, introduced its organizational structure and operational framework. The Sub-society has outlined eight core areas of work: rural talent development and village director initiatives, traditional architectural construction and heritage conservation, rural planning and development, rural policy research, rural governance, low-carbon and digital technologies for rural areas, domestic and international exchange and cooperation, and enterprise services for rural revitalization. It also plans to carry out a series of activities, including an annual rural revitalization conference, thematic seminars, village director training programs, and design competitions. An expert pool comprising 118 industry specialists has been established, forming a preliminary professional ecosystem that integrates academia, technology, and practice.

The second half of the conference sees Beigou Village (Huairou District, Beijing, China) and Triang New Village, Pahang, Malaysia sign an international friendship village partnership agreement, becoming Beijing's first officially paired international friendship villages. The pairing is facilitated through resources provided by BRAUIC, led by BUCEA. At the same time, Beigou Village is awarded the title of Research and Study Base of the Rural Revitalization Sub-society.

During the student practice session, DING Siru, a master's student of the Class of 2024, shared experiences from field research and community service; the BUCEA Youth League Committee launched the 2026 winter social practice program and held a flag presentation ceremony.

At the conference, seven industry and site representatives gave keynote presentations, covering topics such as design innovation, operational models, financial services, governance practices, and cultural revitalization.

The conference not only marked the official establishment of the Sub-society, but also achieved tangible progress in promoting Beijing's rural revitalization in a more international, professional, and practice-oriented direction, through agreements, plaque unveilings, awards, and the gathering of experts.
