From October 22 to October 24, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) and the Russian Highways State Company jointly held the 3rd Technical Exchange on China’s Highway Construction. A delegation of BUCEA faculty members traveled to Moscow for in-depth discussion and closer collaboration with Russian Highways State Company.
The event opened on the morning of October 22. Vyacheslav PETUSHENKO, Chairman of the Russian Highways State Company, attended the opening ceremony with over 260 Russian representatives.
Chairman Vyacheslav PETUSHENKO extended a warm welcome to BUCEA experts, expressing his gratitude for the platform provided by BUCEA that once again enabled experts from both countries to engage in profound technical exchanges. He pointed out that the first two events attracted over 50 and 150 experts from Russia respectively. This year, the number of participating experts jumped to over 260.
DING Shuai, Director of the Department of International Exchanges and Cooperation (School of International Education), emphasized the significance of this training and exchange event, hoping that it would pave the way for closer cooperation between the two sides.
During the three-day event, three BUCEA experts had in-depth discussions on various topics with Russian experts and technicians.
During their visit, the BUCEA delegation attended a roundtable meeting, where experts agreed that further research collaboration would be crucial to dealing with the global challenges in highway construction and operation.
On the afternoon of October 24, the event came to a successful close. During the closing ceremony, Chairman Vyacheslav PETUSHENKO and Vice Chairman Igor KOVAL of the Russian Highways State Company spoke highly of the event. The Chinese and Russian sides not only discussed the latest theories and practices in highway engineering but also established a long-term communication mechanism for technical exchanges. This will lay a solid foundation for future cooperation on scientific research and talent development in highway construction.
BUCEA Vice President YANG Jianwei attended the closing ceremony and delivered a speech, expressing sincere gratitude to both the Russian Highways State Company and BUCEA colleagues who worked hard for the event. He also expressed his hope that China and Russia would continue to strengthen cooperation in the field of highway construction through the BRAUIC and foster regional connectivity and cultural exchange.
