2021 International Conference on Construction and Real Estate Management opened at BUCEA

On the morning of October 16, 2021 International Conference on Construction and Real Estate Management (ICCREM 2021) opened at the Daxing Campus of BUCEA and was chaired by SUN Chengshuang, Dean of the School of Urban Economics and Management of BUCEA, for the opening ceremony session. The Conference was attended online and offline by more than 100 representatives in the academia and business community from China, the U.S. Sweden, etc. Besides, XU Jian, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering, YE Haowen, Chief Expert of China State Construction Engineering Corporation, WANG Yaowu, President of the Conference and Professor of Harbin Institute of Technology, and ZHANG Dayu, Executive President of the Conference and Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of BUCEA, were also present.

2021 International Conference on Construction and Real Estate Management (ICCREM 2021) is an important academic event for the community of civil engineering and architecture. The Conference’s paper collection has been included in the world’s top academic databases, namely, CPCI (Web of Science), EI, and Scopus. The Conference was co-organized by Harbin Institute of Technology, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Umeå University, Tsinghua University, Louisiana State University, University of Alberta, Guangzhou University, Marquette University, and Nottingham Trent University, held by Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, and supported by Construction Institute of the American Society of Civil Engineers and Construction Industry High-Quality Development Institute of the China Construction Industry Association.

Themed on “Challenges of the Construction Industry under the Pandemic”, the Conference expanded the pipeline of ideas and friendship and facilitated communication for experts and scholars worldwide in the fields of construction and real estate management, discussing how would the civil engineering and architecture industry be prepared for the upcoming opportunities and challenges as the pandemic prevention and control became normal.

Experts giving keynote speeches

In the keynote speech session, Professor Miroslaw J. Skibniewski of the University of Maryland, YE Haowen, Chief Expert of China State Construction Engineering Corporation and former President of China Construction Science & Technology Group. Co., Ltd., Professor SHEN Qiping of Hong Kong Polytechnic University, Professor Weizhuo Lu of Umeå University, and ZHOU Xia, Executive Deputy Dean of the Graduate School of BUCEA, delivered presentations.

The panel session

In the panel session, experts and scholars contributed ideas and solutions for accelerating the development of the civil engineering and architecture industry against the pandemic.

Representatives of more than 50 companies and universities nationwide, heads of the Graduate School of BUCEA, Research Development Institute, International Development Research Institute, Human Resources Department, and teacher and student representatives of the School of Urban Economics and Management attended the meeting. The Conference, lasting for 2 days, held the wonderful keynote speech and panel sessions on October 17 which were joined by experts and scholars from the business community and well-known universities such as Tsinghua University and Louisiana State University.
