BUCEA and MGSU Online Cooperation Meeting held

On November 26th, BUCEA and Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (MGSU) held an online cooperation meeting on the joint application of Sino-Foreign Cooperatively-Running Programs. LI Aiqun, Vice President of BUCEA, Vera Galishnikova, Vice Rector of MGSU, and related personnel attended the meeting. The meeting was presided over by JIANG Jie, Executive Dean of the International Development Research Institute.

First of all, LI Aiqun expressed congratulations on the 100th anniversary of the founding of MGSU and thanked MGSU for its active participation in various activities held by the Belt and Road Architectural University International Consortium. LI Aiqun pointed out that MGSU, as the cradle of Russian engineers, boasts a long history and strong professionalism and is one of the world’s largest centers of architectural education. Both MGSU and BUCEA are located in the capitals of both countries with unique geographical advantages and attractions and have similar disciplines and specialties. Therefore, MGSU and BUCEA have possessed the basic conditions for international educational cooperation. He hoped that both universiries would accelerate the application of cooperative education programs focusing on superior disciplines such as architecture, civil engineering, surveying and mapping science and technology, together with emerging majors like artificial intelligence, by combing closer engagement with each other. LI also expressed expectations that the two sides would expand in-depth cooperation and stengthen exchanges in other disciplines such as architectural heritage conservation and urban design and management.

Vera said that through the exchanges between the two sides in recent years, she was particularly impressed with the disciplines and talent training of BUCEA, and the two universities had high professional compatibility and great potential for cooperation in education. She introduced the existing foundation of educational cooperation programs of MGSU and agreed with the suggestions put forward by LI Aiqun. She would actively promote undergraduate cooperative programs with civil engineering, architecture and other majors as the start and then gradually conduct joint training of artificial intelligence majors and graduate students.

At the meeting, the two sides specifically discussed the training methods, the scope of majors, the faculty in the proposed cooperative educational programs, and the launch plans for 2022 and 2023. They also exchanged views on the COVID-19 epidemic prevention and control and the relevant measures of the two universities.

Established in 1921, Moscow State University of Civil Engineering (MGSU) is a Russian national research university with strong advantages in civil engineering, architecture, and informatics. MGSU ranks 601-800, the 9th among its Russian counterparts, in the Times Higher Education World University Rankings of the year 2022.
