On the morning of June 2, 2024, the class opening ceremony of the China Sponge City National Education Program initiated by the Beijing Municipal Education Commission was held at the Xicheng Campus of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA).
The training team of this program is open to all international students in Beijing.
Students of the training team come from 14 countries, including Russia, Malaysia, Cambodia, Yemen, Vietnam, Kazakhstan, Albania, Thailand, Pakistan, Tanzania, Bangladesh, Iran and Morocco. They are studying at universities including Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman, Malaysia, University of Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beihang University, North China Electric Power University, Central University of Finance and Economics, North China University of Technology, Capital Medical University, China Institute of Water Resources and Hydropower Research, and BUCEA.
At the opening ceremony, BUCEA’s Vice President LI Junqi delivered a welcoming speech to the students. The training team centers on the History of China’s Sponge City Development and Sponge City Planning and Construction. Theoretical courses, theme lectures, and practical learning will be provided in 32 credit hours, covering 10 themes.
Professor LI Junqi gave a lecture themed at Development of Urban Stormwater Management Concepts at Home and Abroad: Chinese Characteristics to more than 80 students pursuing long-term or short-term studies.
In the next 3 months, students from various countries will continue to participate in 9 sessions including theoretical courses, theme lectures, and practical learning.
