The final of the 5th Beijing Social Practice and Science and Technology Competition for College Students on Energy Saving, Water Saving, Low Carbon, and Emission Reduction, sponsored by Beijing Municipal Education Commission and hosted by Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA), kicked off on July 1. 193 entries from more than 800 college students from 30 universities in the capital were shortlisted for the final.
LIU Xiao, Director of Higher Education Division of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, and CHEN Hongbing, a member of the Standing Committee of the CPC Committee and Vice President of BUCEA, delivered speeches at the opening ceremony. Nearly 50 experts from Tsinghua University and other universities and research institutes attended the opening ceremony and participated in the review. Heads of relevant departments and institutes attended the opening ceremony. WEI Wei, Director of Student Affairs Department and Secretary of the Youth League Committee, presided over the opening ceremony.
On behalf of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, LIU Xiao expressed his warm congratulations on the success of the competition.
CHEN Hongbing extended a sincere welcome to the experts, judges, teachers, students, enterprises and media representatives present at the competition. He introduced the history and achievements of BUCEA to the participants.
Prof. YUAN Baoling with Jilin Jianzhu University gave a speech on behalf of all the reviewers.
Prof. LI Haiyan, Director of Faculty Affairs Office, Director of Human Resources Department and Dean of School of Environment and Energy Engineering of BUCEA, briefed the audience on entries, the competition’s theme, and the overall preparation.
SUN Yige, a participant from Tsinghua University gave a speech as a student representative.
During the competition, contestants reported their entries, which were unanimously approved by the judges.
