Recently, the Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award Committee of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development announced the list of awarded projects for the 2025 Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award. BUCEA won 5 awards, including 3 first prizes. The number of first prizes won ranks first among architectural universities and second among all universities nationwide.

The project “Key Technologies and Applications for Long-term Functional Adaptation of the Beijing Wukesong Culture and Sports Center”, led by Professor HU Yue, a National Engineering Survey and Design Master from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, won the First Prize. BUCEA once again clinched this award as the primary completing institution.

In addition, the projects with the participation of Professor ZHOU Xiaoping from the School of Intelligence Science and Technology & Associate Professor HAO Shimeng from the School of Architecture and Urban Planning, and Associate Professor XUE Chonghua from the School of Environment and Energy Engineering each won a First Prize.

A total of 200 projects were awarded the 2025 Huaxia Construction Science and Technology Award, including 1 grand prize and 29 first prizes.

Brief Introduction to the Award-winning Project

Project Name: Key Technologies and Applications for Long-term Functional Adaptation of the Beijing Wukesong Culture and Sports Center

As the primary contributor to this project, Professor HU Yue was awarded the title of National Engineering Survey and Design Master in 2006, and received the Liang Sicheng Architecture Prize, the highest honor for Chinese architects, in 2022. Professor HU has successively led and completed 24 projects of major national demand, including the National Speed Skating Oval (Ice Ribbon), the International Pavilion of Beijing International Horticultural Exhibition, the Wukesong Sports Center, and the Hangzhou Asian Games Gymnasium and Natatorium. He created the world’s first NBA-standard arena used in two Olympic Games and the first full-ice speed skating oval, and served as the chief editor of China’s first design outline for Olympic venues. He has won a total of 37 national, provincial, and ministerial awards, as well as 3 international awards.
