ZHANG Dayu, President of Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) attended and addressed the online main ceremony of the Dies Academicus of the University of Mostar on December 10th.
At the ceremony, Zoran Tomić, Rector of the University of Mostar (SUM), Bosnia and Herzegovina, awarded BUCEA and BRAUIC with the Charter for outstanding contribution to the development and promotion of the University. He appreciated the prominent contribution of BUCEA and BRAUIC in organizing the Panel Session on Resilient City and Smart Development Under the 5th China-CEEC Capital Mayors Forum & the 5th BRAUIC Conference, through which China’s significant role in constructing the global system was highlighted. He expressed his pride in the in-depth cooperation in political system, economic development, education, culture and other fields between China and Bosnia and Herzegovina. The close ties were further augmented through the event jointly held by the two sides. He expected to expand the network with Chinese partner universities led by BUCEA and BRAUIC.
President ZHANG Dayu conveyed his gratitude to the Senate of SUM for awarding BUCEA and BRAUIC with Charter. He congratulated on the outstanding achievements of SUM in high-quality talent cultivation, high-level educational research and high-end international exchanges and cooperation. He noted in his speech that since the signing of bilateral cooperation agreement in September 2020, both universities have carried out fruitful collaboration under the umbrella of BRAUIC. In November this year, the Panel Session on Resilient City and Smart Development Under the 5th China-CEEC Capital Mayors Forum & the 5th BRAUIC Conference was successfully held by SUM and BUCEA, marking a milestone of the bilateral relationship. He sincerely hoped that SUM and BUCEA shall take the BRAUIC as a cooperation platform, make full use of the advantages of both sides to strengthen practical exchanges and cooperation, explore new models of international talent training, and jointly build the BRAUIC into an important platform and driving force for the development and innovation of architectural universities along the Belt and Road.
The Charter for outstanding contribution to the development and promotion is the highest honor of the University of Mostar conferred to organizations of great influence and contribution to the development of the University. In 2021, three institutions -- BUCEA, BRAUIC, and the University of Applied Sciences Burgenland, Austria --received the honor.
