On April 29, the Beijing Model Workers, Advanced Workers, and Model Collective Commendation Conference was held. Professor JIANG Jie from BUCEA was honored with the title of “Beijing Advanced Worker.”
Awarded once every five years, the Beijing Model Workers and Advanced Workers titles represent the highest honor for outstanding contributors in China’s capital. They recognize individuals who demonstrate exceptional dedication, achieve remarkable results, and lead in their respective fields.
JIANG Jie, female, Han ethnicity, member of the Communist Party of China, holdshasa Ph.D. and serves as aprofessor(T2)second-level professor and doctoral supervisor at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture.

Appendix: Professor JIANG Jie’s Achievements
As the Party Branch Secretary of the Surveying and Mapping Engineering Department at the School of Geomatics and Urban Spatial Informatics, JIANG Jie was selected as a National “Double Leader” in higher education. She has received numerous accolades, including National March 8th Red Banner Holder, Outstanding Party Member of Beijing Universities, National Advanced Worker in Surveying and Mapping Systems, “Women of Achievements” Pioneer by the Ministry of Land and Resources (now the Ministry of Natural Resources), and Female Innovator in Geomatics. She also received the National May 1st Labor Medal in Energy and Chemical Systems.
With rigorous scholarship and innovative spirit, JIANG has led multiple national and provincial-level research projects, achieving internationally leading breakthroughs with significant socio-economic impacts. She authored 12 national standards and 7 industry standards, published over 100 academic papers as first or corresponding author, and received numerous awards, including the State Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize,First ContributorRank 1), State Natural Science Award (Second Prize,FourthContributorRank 4), and 10 other science and technology awards. She was granted the State Council Special Allowance and recognized as a National “Ten Thousand Talents Program” Leading Scientific and Technological Innovation Talent, “National Hundred, Thousand and Ten Thousand Talent Project in the New Century” candidate, Beijing Scholar, high-level innovative talent under the Ministry of Natural Resources, and Beijing Xicheng District “Xirong Talent” Science and Technology Leading Talent. She was elected as an Academician of the European Academy of Sciences and Arts and a Fellow of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS).
Key Contributions:
1. Led the technical design, R&D, and operation of China’s first distributed geospatial cloud service platform, the National Geographic Information Public Service Platform “Tianditu.”Received the State Science and Technology Progress Award (Second Prize, Science and Technology Progress Award in Surveying and Mapping (Special Prize), Geographic Information Science and Technology Progress Award (First Prize), and multiple Second to Third Class Science and Technology Progress Awards from social sector organizations.
Led the demand analysis, overall technical design, and data production trials for a global mapping technology system based on domestically developed high-resolution satellite imagery. Completed high-precision fundamental geographic data production covering approximately 25 million square kilometers in the “Belt and Road” region. Awarded the Science and Technology Progress Award in Surveying and Mapping (First Prize).
3. Directed the construction of the national e-government project “National Natural Resources and Geospatial Basic Information Database (Surveying and Mapping Sub-Center)”, developed a national-level e-government foundational geospatial framework database, and established a data sharing and service system based on the e-government network. Received the Science and Technology Progress Award in Geographic Information (First Prize).
4. Authored five national standards that filled gaps in indoor and outdoor navigation geodata standardization in China. Established the country’s first nationwide navigation geographic framework database, making significant contributions to the autonomous development of China’s navigation geodata industry. Awarded the Science and Technology Progress Award in Geographic Information (Second Prize).
JIANG’s group was designated a National Key Field Innovation Team and National Advanced Collective of Professional and Technical Talents. She was also named a Beijing Education System Pioneer in Talent Development.
In teamwork, she leads by example, providing multifaceted assistance and support to young team members. She actively promotes exchanges and collaboration between her team and outstanding domestic and international teams, including joint applications for scientific projects with leading domestic universities and research institutions. She has successfully recommended numerous young scholars for roles in international and domestic academic organizations, and multiple team members have been recognized with national and provincial/ministerial-level talent titles.
As an educator, beyond teaching undergraduate and graduate courses, she has mentored over 50 master’s and doctoral students, voluntarily serving as a class advisor and academic mentor for undergraduates. In her teaching, she guides students to explore cutting-edge advancements in their fields, ignites their academic curiosity, and fosters self-directed, research-based learning. She maintains long-term one-on-one communication with each student, offering abundant learning resources and opportunities. She frequently participates in laboratory team-building activities to strengthen mentor-student bonds and address students’ personal challenges. Under her guidance, many students have published high-impact papers and achieved accolades in domestic and international competitions.
JIANG prioritizes advancing international and domestic academic collaboration. Currently serving as Secretary-General of the International Society for Photogrammetry and Remote Sensing (ISPRS) and Vice Chair of the Chinese National Committee for the International Science Council, she has organized over a dozen large-scale international and domestic academic conferences in recent years, significantly contributing to the global integration of China’s photogrammetry, remote sensing, and geoinformation science sectors.
