Artificial Intelligence + & Advanced Materials! BUCEA releases an important action plan

On December 26, BUCEA convened a meeting to mark the establishment of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Plus and the Institute for Advanced Materials, alongside an expert consultation session. During the event, the School of Intelligence Science and Technology, the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Plus and the Institute for Advanced Materials were officially inaugurated. Additionally, BUCEA formally released its  Three-Year Action Plan for Accelerating the Promotion of Artificial Intelligence+ .

Attendees included ZHAO Chunjiang, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering; ZHI Xiao, secretary of the CPC Party committee and chairman of the board of directors of China Building Materials Academy; Prof. ZHANG Zengzhi, secretary-general of the Chinese Materials Research Society, director of the Research Institute of Ecological and Functional Material of the China University of Mining and Technology (Beijing); Prof. LI Jianxin, recipient of the National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars, secretary of the CPC Party committee of the School of Computer Science and Engineering, Beihang University; Prof. HU Chunming, a leading talent under the Overseas High-Level Talent Recruitment Programs (10,000 Talents Program) and dean of School of Software, Beihang University, and LI Sen, director of SenseTime’s Digital Economy Research Institute, were invited to attend the meeting. ZHENG Yu, Chairman of the University Council of BUCEA, stated that this year, the university has promptly formulated a  Three-Year Action Plan for Accelerating the Promotion of Artificial Intelligence+ , establishing a comprehensive, multidimensional development model that integrates Artificial Intelligence+, +Artificial Intelligence across all fields and processes. The university is vigorously promoting the integration and innovation of artificial intelligence in education, focusing on areas such as discipline building, talent training, research capacity building, and faculty development. Leveraging the School of Intelligence Science and Technology, the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Plus, and the Institute for Advanced Materials as engines, BUCEA aims to create a robust computational support platform. By fully utilizing the capabilities of cutting-edge interdisciplinary research teams, the university seeks to embed artificial intelligence into the entire process and all aspects of education and university governance, so as to contribute to the transformation and upgrading of the construction industry and the development of resilient and smart livable cities.

ZHANG Dayu emphasized that artificial intelligence and big data hold vast development potential and diverse application scenarios in the construction industry. He highlighted the urgent need for in-depth research focusing on talent development and technological R&D to cultivate more top innovative talents. The experts attending this meeting provided valuable opinions and suggestions. BUCEA will systematically consolidate their viewpoints to promote the growth of the research institutes, ensuring the practical implementation and tangible results of the  Artificial Intelligence+ action plan .

At the meeting, CHEN Hongbing presented  Three-Year Action Plan for Accelerating the Promotion of Artificial Intelligence+  through the virtual image of Digital Man.

ZHANG Dayu announced the establishment of the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Plus, the Institute for Advanced Materials and the decision to rename the School of Electrical & Information Engineering.

Among them, the Institute for Artificial Intelligence Plus will track the latest developments in the field of artificial intelligence, focusing on cross-disciplinary innovation in artificial intelligence applications.

The Institute for Advanced Materials is committed to making breakthroughs in core technologies, strengthening applied basic research and applied study, and accelerating the R&D, application and promotion of advanced materials.

The university is establishing an open collaboration and integration arena for industry-academia-research application through the two new research institutes. This arena will focus on talent recruitment and employment, project implementation, management of intellectual property rights, commercialization and application of scientific achievements, and cooperation and sharing of platforms, to serve the in-depth application of artificial intelligence and new material technologies in future city building.
