On March 25, BUCEA held the event “Face to Face with the Vice President: The Opening Lecture for the New Semester” at the Xicheng Campus. CHEN Zhaohui, Vice President of BUCEA, attended and delivered the lecture. Other participants of this engaging session include: representatives of newly enrolled international students for the Spring Semester 2026 and current international students, representatives of students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan, representatives of student society members, as well as university staff and counselors.

The opening lecture for the new semester was themed “Build Your Future in Beijing, Design Your World at BUCEA.” Vice President CHEN Zhaohui outlined BUCEA’s century-long legacy in education and encouraged all students to make full use of the Luban Global School as a platform for dedicated and focused academic pursuit.

At the event, faculty and students watched videos about BUCEA stories. Current international student representative Polina BRUNO shared her reflections on academic growth and practical experiences in China, while newly enrolled international student representative Sanur MAMMADLI expressed a strong commitment to pursuing his field of study and exploring Chinese culture. Representatives from student societies, including the ISPRS SC China BUCEA Student Chapter, ASCE-BUCEA, and the International Exchange Association (IEA), also delivered remarks, presenting BUCEA’s internationally oriented student-led academic societies and platforms for cross-cultural exchange.

Prior to the event, Chinese and international students prepared small gifts representing their hometown cultures or personal stories of cross-cultural exchange. During the interactive session, participants exchanged these gifts, fostering friendship and mutual understanding. The event concluded with a group photo, capturing a warm and memorable moment of intercultural connection.

The opening lecture, a core component of the BUCEA international student orientation, is accompanied by a series of activities including thematic lectures, campus tours, regulatory briefings, and visits to the History Museum of BUCEA, which together constitute the full orientation package and support international students’ smooth integration into campus life at BUCEA.
