Recently, Elsevier officially released the 2024 “Highly Cited Chinese Researchers” list. Four professors from Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA)—WANG Chongchen, WANG Yanxue, GAO Dawen, and TIAN Guangdong—have once again been featured. Among them, two are from the discipline of Environmental Science and Engineering, one from Mechanical Engineering, and one from Civil Engineering.

This year’s list draws data from Scopus, a globally recognized citation and indexing database. It features 6,388 researchers from 547 universities, enterprises, and research institutions across 10 academic fields and 83 first-level disciplines as classified by China’s Ministry of Education.

The list aims to provide a systematic overview of the distribution of research talent in China, accurately showcasing the academic strengths of various institutions and universities as well as their academic impact. It also identifies leading experts in key technological research and areas, demonstrating the global influence of scholars in specific research fields. The list is widely recognized by universities, academic institutions, and renowned scholars worldwide.
