BUCEA holds ceremony for students setting off as volunteers for 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and as performers for Paralympic Winter Games

On January 19, BUCEA held a ceremony for students setting out to volunteer for the 2022 Beijing Winter Olympics and perform for the Paralympic Winter Games. It was attended by JIANG Zeting, Secretary of the CPC Committee of BUCEA, ZHANG Dayu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of BUCEA, the leadership of relevant functional departments and schools, all teachers of the special working group for supporting the Winter Olympics, 142 Winter Olympics volunteers and 65 student performers for the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Winter Games.

ZHANG Dayu, Deputy Secretary of the CPC Committee and President of BUCEA, presenting volunteers with ID cards, marking the formal start of volunteers’ work.

The ceremony began with raising the national flag and singing the national anthem. Then the attendees watched the promotional video  Join Hand to Support Winter Olympics  and videos from students’ parents, which expressed their deepest concern and heartfelt encouragement for volunteers and performers.

YUAN Quan, head of volunteers for event services at the Capital Indoor Stadium and Secretary of the Youth League Committee of School of Civil and Transportation Engineering, made a speech on behalf of the volunteers. Volunteer representatives recited  Bravely Embark on the Journey Towards A Shared   Future , and made the solemn pledge to “gain international recognition for China and make the Winter Olympics outstanding with our diligence and resilience”.

At 11:20, 49 students, the first batch of volunteers from BUCEA, set out on the Winter Olympics journey from Daxing Campus.

During the event, 140 volunteers from BUCEA will serve at the Capital Indoor Stadium – the venue with the most beautiful ice, attracting the most attention and holding the most competitive games, to undertake tasks in 9 services, including venue management, people management, traffic management respectively for figure skating and short track speed skating. 65 performers for the closing ceremony of the Paralympic Winter Games will witness the successful closure of the event with their splendid performance.
