At the beginning, LI Aiqun thanked John LIU for his strong support for the cooperation between the two universities, and gave a brief introduction of the history and characteristics of BUCEA since its establishment 115 years ago. He said that BUCEA has attached great importance to internationalization efforts. Despite the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic in the past two years, relevant work has still been progressing. LI expressed his sincere wish to establish a normalized exchange and cooperation mechanism with Syracuse University, where the two sides can work out a cooperation plan which makes the best use of their complementary advantages to gain mutual benefits and win-win results, thus contributing to the high-quality development of both sides in fields such as big structures, big data, and smart and green construction.

John LIU said that the general trend of China-US international education cooperation in the post-pandemic era will remain unchanged. He looked forward to seeing the two universities actively explore an all-round, multilevel, and diversified cooperation model in the post-pandemic era. The two sides should clearly define their development goals and give full play to their disciplinary advantages and characteristics, starting from joint student training programs, such as “3+2”, “2+2”. Hopefully, the two universities will further strengthen their cooperative ties in student exchange, mutual visits of faculties, and research cooperation, etc., and more fruitful results will be brought soon.
