On October 21, 2023, the Conference on the Development of Architectural Technology among Universities in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region was convened at Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA). Sponsored by the Collaborative Innovation Alliance of Architectural Universities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, the Conference centered around “our actions to promote the coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region”. An in-depth discussion on the high-quality development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region was carried out by the participants who are leaders, experts, scholars and heads of businesses from over 50 universities, government departments and industry-leading enterprises, including ZHANG Guohui, first-class inspector at Department of Science, Technology and Informatization of the Ministry of Education, WU Luyang, second-class inspector at Department of Standard Rating of the Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development, HUANG Jing, Director of the Administrative Center for China’s Agenda 21, LIU Bozheng, Member of the CPC Committee of the Beijing Municipal Commission of Development and Reform, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Coordination Office, and executive deputy director of Coordinated Development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region Joint-Office, LIU Chang’an, deputy director of Beijing Municipal Education Commission, ZHANG Zhisong, second-class inspector of Beijing Municipal Science & Technology Commission and Administrative Commission of Zhongguancun Science Park, ZHANG Lin, Director of Beijing Big Data Center, Professor ZHUANG Weimin from Tsinghua University who is also an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, and Professor ZHANG Ping from Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications who is also an academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering. The Conference is moderated by ZHANG Dayu, President of BUCEA, during which the Institute for Urban and Rural Modernization with Chinese Characteristics of BUCEA was inaugurated, and the participating universities jointly released an initiative named  Our actions to promote coordinated development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region .

Opening ceremony of the Conference

In 2015, to implement the  Outline of the Plan for Coordinated Development of the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region , the Collaborative Innovation Alliance of Architectural Universities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region was jointly established by Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture, Tianjin Chengjian University and Hebei University of Architecture. Ever since its establishment, the Alliance has initiated collaborative innovation by bringing together enterprises, universities and research institutes, and has continuously carried out pragmatic cooperation in multiple fields such as the cultivation of “Excellent Engineers”, sci-tech research and development and the commercialization of its achievements, as well as the service for the economic development and urban-rural development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region.

This Conference has conducted an in-depth discussion on architectural technology, further defined the trends and directions for the universities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region in developing their architectural technology, and promoted the collaborative innovation and integrated promotion and application of the architectural technology in these universities so as to help the coordinated development in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region reach new heights. Furthermore, the Conference has also affirmed to carrying out critical measures concerning the integrated deployment of education, scientific technology and talents, which is of great significance to speed up the building of a great power in education, science and technology, and the achieving of sci-tech self-reliance and self-strengthening at higher levels.

Debut of Institute for Urban and Rural Modernization with Chinese Characteristics of BUCEA

Appointment of the first batch of experts by Institute for Urban and Rural Modernization with Chinese Characteristics of BUCEA

Responsible for the establishment and operation of the think tank on housing and urban-rural development, the Institute will focus on important theoretical and practical issues in housing and urban-rural development, fully utilize the strengths of universities in carrying out comprehensive scientific research and practice, mobilize universities, institutes, enterprise, the society and international community to conduct research on policies about housing and real estate, urban-rural development, the construction industry and other key fields, so as to provide timely emergency consultation, advice on decision-making and technological support, enhance publicity, interpretation and explanation, respond to heated social issues, properly channel public sentiments, tell stories well about housing and urban-rural development, and provide high-quality research achievements and policy suggestions for national and local governments to conduct scientific-based policymaking.

In the Conference, BUCEA and its alliance members proposed that the “Collaborative Innovation Alliance of Architectural Universities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region” should be upgraded to “Collaborative Innovation Alliance for Architectural Technology of Universities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region” to expand the Alliance and better serve the coordinated development in the region.

Closing ceremony of the Conference

The closing ceremony of the Conference was held in Daxing Campus of BUCEA in the afternoon. Participants include main leaders from the universities of the Collaborative Innovation Alliance of Architectural Universities in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei Region, heads of department of scientific research management and department of postgraduate management, and hosts of all thematic salons.
