Everything comes back to life in the early spring. On March 1, Beijing University of Civil Engineering and Architecture (BUCEA) started a new semester. All teachers and students returned to campus with great enthusiasm and high spirits. According to BUCEA's teaching work plan for the spring semester, online lessons were arranged in good order.
On the first day of the new semester, 286 teachers taught 13,061 students in 274 undergraduate courses and 20 postgraduate courses online in total. Online teaching is effective due to sufficient early-stage preparations. The electronic enrollment was fully completed on the day before the new semester, and the online teaching tasks were fully performed on the first day of the new semester.
To ensure orderly and normal teaching, get the whole picture of teachers' online teaching and students' independent learning, timely identify any problem in teaching, and assure the teaching quality, BUCEA carried out a comprehensive inspection for online teaching in the early new semester. University-level and school-level supervision experts and university-level and division-level leaders sat in the online classes to supervise and check online teaching. The Office of Academic Affairs also visited the classes to fully check online teaching conditions.
After sufficient early-stage preparations, teachers delivered their respective first lesson smoothly in the new semester. "I've carefully made and improved my teaching courseware and updated the cutting-edge disciplinary knowledge and ideological elements in the courses during the winter holiday. And in today's class, students learned and interacted passionately and actively," SU Xinfang, a lecturer in charge of the General Physics course in the School of Science. Professor XIAO Jianjie, a lecturer in charge of The Outline of Chinese Modern History in the School of Marxism, came to her online class half an hour earlier. She said, "Students came to the classroom in advance. Hope that my class will give students some knowledge and improve their confidence in getting through the pandemic!"
